This project was highly commended for sustainability in the 2014 National Natural Stone Awards, which are organized by the Stone Federation of Great Britain.

Natural

Set in the idyllic country side of Cornwall our hammered granite is the perfect candidate for the beautiful scenery. This self build project won a highly commended award in the sustainability category. The house uses a modern design but incorporates traditional granite materials. We feel this highlights exciting possibilities for using our natural stone in contemporary projects.The award was presented by Lord Digby Jones to Jason Jarvis, the architect and owner of this unique project, and Richard Crocker, the Managing Director of Lantoom.

In keeping

The granite stone used in this project can be found under the building stone category on our Website. Our hammered granite comes from our Caradon quarry and can be used for dry-stone or mortared facing walls. The mixture of colours and sizes gives the stone a random and natural look, great for matching in with the Cornish and Devonian countryside. For cladding and facing projects we are able to saw the back of the granite to achieve a 100mm depth.
