Set in the heart of Cornwall Lantoom’s story begins 395 million years ago, with the forming of our stone during the Devonian period. Throughout the millions of years that followed water has deposited minerals onto the stone faces, giving them the characteristic Lantoom brown face we know today. (For a more indepth look into the forming of Lantoom stone please see the Geology Page). Skipping forward millions of years brings us to 1964. This is when Lantoom Quarry started trading its stone. The quarry is owned by the Crocker family and has been passed down through the family for generations.
Today Lantoom boasts a large range of products. All of which can be found on this website.
Lantoom employs over 13 members of staff in varying roles. We want to share a little information about the team so you can get to know us as real people.

Name: Richard Crocker
Job title: Managing Director
Joined Lantoom: 2007
What he does: Richard’s most important job is to recruit the best staff and help them get the best out of themselves through training and mentoring. He oversees the company’s mission to build a better world. He co-ordinates the many functions of the business to make it as responsive to customers’ needs as possible. Most of his time is spent planning the future of the company.
Experience: Richard was brought up in Cornwall and after service in the Royal Navy joined an international accountancy firm. He now has over 20 years of commercial business experience.
In his spare time: Richard enjoys life outdoors
Name: Will Hugh
Job title: Financial Controller
Joined Lantoom: January 2010
What he does: Will manages our accounts and is responsible for taking care of new and existing customer needs through regular contact and review. He also produces data analysis on quarry operations to ensure optimum efficiency. This allows us to offer a high quality, reliable service and deliver to customer expectations. Will formulates and presents various data to ensure Richard and the rest of the team are kept up to date and can deliver timely assistance to customers.
Experience: Will graduated from the University of Southampton with a bachelors degree in history and politics. Before joining the team at Lantoom he worked as a barman in Looe. Will is MAAT (Member of the Association of Accounting Technicians) qualified and is in the process of undertaking the CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants) qualification.
In his spare time: Will works as a Financial Director for FLYPLMOUTH – a social enterprise with a plan to reopen Plymouth airport. He is treasurer for Liskeard Monday Club, which is a charity helping those with mental difficulties enjoy various leisure activities. He enjoys playing squash and football and is a member of Liskeard Table Tennis Club.
Name: Adam Ashman
Job title: Sales and Marketing Apprentice
Joined Lantoom: September 2013
What he does: Adam's role involves customer-focused duties such as processing orders and customer enquires in a timely manner and handling e-mail interaction effectively. His role also involves looking after marketing activities, such as website management, content creation and producing engaging marketing materials.
Experience: Adam studied at Truro College for 2 years to complete a National Diploma in Media. He then went on to work at the slate cave tourist attraction Carnglaze Caverns in Liskeard, where he worked for 5 years. In this role he carried out a range of customer service duties. Prior to working at Lantoom, Adam was a door to door salesman. He is currently undertaking a Chartered Institute of Marketing level 3 course and is intending to start level 4 upon completion.
In his spare time: Adam enjoys panto practice every Friday in his local village of St Neot. Keeping active is important to him, with rock climbing, squash and jogging on his list of favourite spare time hobbies. When he's not in the outdoors, he spends time on computer animation and is learning to play the guitar. He still works the occasional Saturday at Carnglaze Caverns.
Name: Lizzie Harland
Job title: Office Administrator
Joined Lantoom: June 2015
What she does: Working closely alongside Sam, Lizzie is responsible for a range of office operations. These include handling enquiries from new and existing customers, processing orders via telephone and e-mail and taking care of customer walk-ins. An important part of her role is to efficiently book haulage for our products so customers receive a high quality, reliable shipping service. She regularly liaises with quarry manager John and quarry operatives for updates on stock and operations to ensure we can deliver to customer expectation.
Experience: Lizzie has recently undertook a course in Customer Service. She was a keen member of Roborough Young Farmers for 6 years, in which she was secretary. She helps out on the family Dartomoor Hill Farm.
In her spare time:Tavistock-born Lizzie now lives in Launceston and takes a keen interest in countryside activities. She enjoys horse riding and breeding Scotch Blackface sheep and being up on the moors.
Name: Sam Hunt
Job title: Sales

What he does: Sam is responsible for a range of office operations. Experience: Sam studied product design at Bournemouth University. Sam has a wealth of building experience and has even built a house.
In his spare time:Sam likes to keep active, enjoying many outdoor activities including kayaking and cycling. He also performs in his local Pantomime at Polbathic.
