We supply slate suitable for traditional hedge construction in the following dimensions: This is suitable for building a high quality hedge construction or dry stone wall where a premium finish is required (e.g. For garden use). It can also be used as a facing stone for walls made with gabion baskets. The stone is hand selected from the quarry to provide: - A bed width of 100-300mm nominal size (4-12 inches)
- A building face
- This material will build approximately 2 - 2.5 square metres of wall per tonne of stone
- Large walling/Hedging stone
This is suitable for building a dry stone - agricultural grade hedge. The stone is not manually selected so there is a wider range of dimensions. Most of the stones will have straight faces, however there will be some stones without faces. It is an economy material used to build large lengths of traditional agricultural hedge and we do not recommend its use in domestic gardens. The material will build approximately 1.5 - 2 square metres of hedge per tonne of stone. Please note - some of these stones are quite large. It is normal for large stones to be used at the base of a hedge to form a solid foundation. However this means that you may consider some of this material too large to be safely handled manually.
